Another litter on the way!
Well, I did it! =] Dolly was bred to Comic yesterday and is (hopefully) going to be having babies around October 28th! ...which also happens to be my brother's birthday. :) Assunming she's bred, the litter will be ready to go around Christmas! ...Christmas bunnies! :) Anyways... I'm very excited for this litter. We'll see how it goes!
My Good Helper :)
My little brother, Jonny, and I have the job of milking our three goats twice a day. After milking I do bunny chores. Jonny always is in there helping me as soon as he finishes his chores. I never even ask him, he just comes on in and starts helpin' out. :) What a good brother, huh?!?!
Thanks buddy! :)
And he loves holding the bunnies too. Here he is with his favorite, Mickey....
Thanks buddy! :)

A quick update on my little herd...
Comic - doing great! Finished his molt and looks beautiful!
Bella - doing great! Starting her molt.
Dolly - Raised 4 beautiful babies this summer. I'm thinking about trying for another litter. Not sure yet, though.... And I have to say that I have been really surprised, and happy, with this little doe. She has produced some really gorgeous babies.
Mickey - KEEPING! Yahoo! I am so excited to breed with this awesome little buck! Here he is:

I loooooove his head. He's got a lot of Comic's great characteristics. All though this photo defnitely does NOT do him justice! He was being very uncooperative while I was trying to take pictures of him! :( And the best part about Mickey is his absolutely AMAZING temperament. He's the friendliest little bunny you'll ever meet, in my opinion! Sooooo sweet. :) I actually have to push his head back into the cage because he always sticks it up to be scratched when I'm trying to shut the door! On Fridays when I have kids who want to hold the bunnies, I always hand them Mickey. :) Anyways... I'm super excited about breeding with him and just getting to keep this adorable little guy. :)
So... that's a quick update in my tiny, but growing, herd! We'll see if I end up keeping any from the latest litter. Still thinkin' about that one.... :)

Something NEW, finally!
I guess I was getting pretty BORED of my blog/website, so I decided to freshen things up a bit. I think it still needs a bit more touching up, it's kinda plain right now, but I am sure liking some change! :)
Denny went to a new home yesterday. I know he is going to have a GREAT time with his new family! :) Here is a picture of him with his new owner, Andrew.
So I now have no bunnies for sale, but Dolly's three kits are 5 weeks old and are up for reservation. I will get pictures of them on here as soon as I get a chance. They are the cutest lil' things EVER! Just love them.

Just enjoying the ride :)
Raising bunnies has been somewhat like a roller coaster for me! :) I can remember coming in from bunny chores to mom and crying because I wasn't EVER going to get a litter! That was in the beginning when Bella didn't get bred the first time, so then when she did get bred, it was 31 days and I was sure that she couldn't even have babies! But she waited to the last... day 32. I think I lack patience, maybe?!?! I remember wondering what it would be like to actually get a LITTER!
I just came in from taking my 4-week-old photos of Dolly's babies. I am just, well, HOPPING around I'm so excited with this litter! They are all looking gorgeous! Yeah! But then... tomorrow I might find a black spot behind someone's ear and, well, that's that. =/ A lot like a roller coaster, huh? :)
But the ups definitely make up for every down. Definitely. Like seeing how well this litter turned out today.
I mentioned before that I was taking the 4-week-old photos of Dolly's litter. They are actually 5 weeks old, but I lost count somehow, and the lucky little things got a whole extra week before being weaned! =o No wonder Dolly was getting a little crabby with them! They sure are fat, though, anyways.
I talked to my bunny friend, Debbie, for a while the other night. I always LOVE talking to her or anyone whose raised bunnies for a while. It is definitely an "up" of raising bunnies! I get off the phone just PUMPED and wanting to have 20 rabbits! ....to my Dad's dismay! I think I'll just forget about telling him "I WON'T get attached to them if I can jussssst have bunnies!" when I was trying to convince him to let me start a rabbitry. :)
Anyways... that's just some ramblings about what's goin' on around the rabbitry today! I'll be posting my photos of the babies soon!

Friday on the Farm
Throughout the summer we have a farmer's market at our house every Friday. (http://housmanfarms.blogspot.com/ ) All the little kids who come always want to go see the animals, and the bunnies are always a favorite! Plus it's good for the bunnies to be handled by kids, as a lot of them end up in families with children. :)

Computers! ={
Well, I had every good intention of posting some (adorable) pictures of the babies but... well, as you can guess the COMPUTER is acting up. Ugh! Oh well, pictures another time I guess.
Dolly's litter is now out of the nestbox. I tipped it over on it's side and they are very happily hoppin' around in the cage and eating food now too. I love this stage where they are still soooo tiny but hopping around. :) So cute.
Well, I guess I'll post photots sometime when the computer is in a better mood.... =/

Shedding :(
The bunnies are shedding right now. It's the first time the I've ever had that happen since I got them. At first when Comic started shedding I kinda freaked out because I didn't know WHAT was wrong with him NOW! (Duhhh!) =] A more experenced rabbitry owner told me he was shedding. Oh! Of course.
Now Bella is starting now that Comic is finishing up. The worst part is the fur that floats around in their cages and sticks to everything and makes everything look untidy. :( I can't stand that! :( So I'm scrubbing cages a lot more than once a month. :-/ Oh well.
Plus the rabbits look so ... well, ugly! But I must say, now that Comic is almost finished, he does look really nice. :)
