Hot, Lazy Day
Not much going on right now. Just enjoying some cute babies and waiting for my next three litters to come... but that's not until the end of this month. It's been pretty hot out lately, so the fan has been going and all the buns are lazing around in their cages.
Some other pics of the babies.....
Hopefully she stays nice.
Some of the other buns... these two little pet bucks are from Chip's last litter. They'll be going to a great pet home in a few weeks. Such cuties, they race to the door for attention when I come around. :)
And Dolly's two babies... just weaned this morning. The little sport doe is the cutest thing, I love her head and ears. She will be going to a new home in a month or so to be a brood doe. The buck looks SO much like Mickey when he was his age, and if he stays nice will either stay here or be a herd buck for someone else.
So, that's about all that's going on right now. :) I'm just enjoying my bunnies as much as ever and looking forward to more babies.
Mickey, just hangin' out.
Dolly
Regina... will be a first time mom end of this month (sire is Mickey) and I'm so excited for her litter- I hope she does a good job and everything goes well. Fingers crossed!
Chocolate Chip - just laying around enjoying a rest from babies. She's due end of this month also.
(By the way, sorry things look so messy in these pics... I took them today and today is my cleaning day, and I haven't yet, so.....) =)
The favorites in the rabbitry right now would be Haylie's 5 babies. They are all doing super! And they are just WAY adorable. Cuteness overload, for sure. I just tipped over the nest box yesterday so they are really enjoying the run of the cage. :) They are always cramming themselves back behind the nest box though... silly kits!
Camera shy?!!?
When I say I tipped the nest box over, well.... that's exactly what I did. Usually I take everything out, put in fresh bedding, just so, etc. But this time I just tipped it over and they have burrowed out their own little "cave" in there... which actually works better than me messing it up. :) I probably will only leave it in for a week or so anyways, though, it's so warm they don't really need it.
Some other pics of the babies.....
I think I'm probably going to keep a doe out of this litter, and I've already picked out my favorite doe of them all, and buck. Some of the babies are looking sooooo compact and typey, can't wait to see them grow. In all I think there is 3 does and 2 bucks. Yeah does! Finally - seems like it is always bucks. I sure hope I'm right on gender. =D
This is my pick for the buck. Isn't he precious? He's got the cutest head.
This is my choice doe. :) She's got a HEAD, even more than the buck. I sure hope it IS a doe for sure (I'll be sure in a few weeks) 'cause if it is she's probably staying. Such a typey little thing, and very compact! Love this girl.
Hopefully she stays nice.

Lots of Baby Hotots
Sorry for not posting much this week. I haven't been feeling well all week so I've not been doing too much. =( I've got 9 babies total right now that are all doing fabulous and just so adorable! And three more litters coming in about a month, can't wait!
The oldest of the babies. These two little bucks are about 4 1/2 weeks old.
Dolly's two babies. I think the sport is a doe and the banded is a buck.... not totally sure yet. And my, my... like father like son! The little buck reminds me SO much of Mickey when he was his age. So adorable!
LOL
These ones are a little better. =P

And this little sport doe... my goodness, she is CUTE. I've nicknamed her "Smudge". =) A little stinker when it comes to posing though! Here she is covering her adorable face with her "paws". "Don't look at me!!!"
LOL
These ones are a little better. =P
Isn't she just a doll?!?!?! =)
And Haylie's 5 babies... all doing so great, I'm SO glad!
As you can see they aren't very photogenic. =( A bit camera shy!

My First Show!
WOW.
Yesterday was one of the best days of my entire hotot adventure! I was really nervous for my first show. I got up at 5:30 and got everything packed up. Then at 7AM I loaded up the Mickey & Regina and Dad and I headed to the We Be Rabbit Show in Hutchinson, MN.
I was so nervous! We got there around 7:30 and I couldn't believe all the bunnies. There was tons of them.
I managed to get registered and then found Debbie McLaughlin and her and a friend tattooed Regina and Mickey (thanks!!!). Then we sat.... and sat..... and sat. I didn't realize how much sitting you do in a rabbit show! Finally, something about Dwarf Hotot was muttered over the loud speaker and everyone in our little DH unit started buzzing. I panicked, grabbed my two carriers, and chased everyone else over to the hotot table. LOL I think I was a little worked up at first. =) heehee
In the first show the judge was Tonna Thomas. And I should mention - before the first show came, we discovered that one of Regina's toe nails was missing. She must have been hopping around in her cage and jerked it out. :( So she was DQ'd because of that, but I still put her on the table so I could get comments from the judge.
Senior Bucks were up first. That was Mickey. There was 10 other bucks in his class, and my heart was pounding, I'm telling you!
If it wasn't for the fact that we were inside a building, I would have screamed! I was so excited, and so proud of my little Mickey. My first homebred, my first baby I fell totally in love with,..... my first winner.
Tonna Thomas also looked at Regina, even though she got DQ'd on her toe nail, she still gave comments which was nice. When she saw the toe nail she said "bummer! ..... this doe would have taken first place." So that was encouraging! I will have Regina's babies on the table next time - I'm going to breed her to Mickey tomorrow.
So, after the Sr. Does, Jr. Bucks, and Jr. Does were judged, the best from each class (4 bunnies) were lined up and the Best Of Breed was chosen.
and judge Don Havlicek,
...and yes, it was Bunny HEAVEN for me. I had the best time of my life... I'm HOOKED.
Thanks also to Debbie McLaughlin and the rest of the DH crew for all your help and guidance to this newbie at the show. I really appreciated it! :)
And thanks to Lindsey of 4Kings Rabbitry who helped me out a BUNCH with lots of great advice before my first show. Thank you!!!!
ALSO.... a HUGE CONGRATS to Julia of Hoppin' Fun Rabbitry on her win with Hoppin' Hotots Onyx! (Also one of Regina's litter mates). Onyx took FIRST PLACE in all three shows! Nice job Julia and Onyx!
A few other pics from the show....
Junior Bucks getting judged.....
So... thus ends my big mega-post. My first show went so well, I had a blast. I'm hoping there will be many more..... ;-) (Oh Dad, what did you get yourself into???) =)

Do I look nervous??? Well, either way, I AM.
Tonna judging Mickey
I watched as Mickey kept getting moved closer to the head of the table. I was wondering "does that have anything to do with where they are placed??" Then they started getting placed. I couldn't believe it when the judge said that first place went to HH001. WOW.
Tonna Thomas also looked at Regina, even though she got DQ'd on her toe nail, she still gave comments which was nice. You could have knocked me over with a feather.
So, to make a long story short...... I stayed for the last two shows of the day, and under judge
Alissa Kruger,
and judge Don Havlicek,
Mickey got BOB in both of them!!! I was just hopping around at the end, I couldn't believe it!!!!! He now has three legs and is a Grand Champion. I am SO PROUD of my baby!
Thank you so much to you all who supported me in this big venture. LOL And a special thanks to my very patient Dad who spent 12 hours in "Bunny Hell", as he described it.
You're the best.
:)
...and yes, it was Bunny HEAVEN for me. I had the best time of my life... I'm HOOKED.
Thanks also to Tonna Thomas for giving me some lessons on DH type! She was able to spend a little time giving me some examples with Mickey, and I learned some helpful new tips. Thanks!
