Yesterday morning I found a nest of happy, healthy babies in Bella's nest box! There are four all together, they are black banded and all look perfect! No peanuts or sports, yeah!
Bella is such a good mom. She pulled TONS of fur and made a big fluffy nest!

| My first peek at the babies. I'm always THRILLED when I see those pink, squirmy little kits. |
I have really been looking forward to having more BABIES around, so it has been so fun having these little guys, all my mothering instincts are definitely kicking in.... LOL!

So... what I'm going (try) to do... every day from day 1 to day 30 of these little babies lives, I'm going to take a photo of them. I think it will be neat for ya'll (and me!) to see how quick they grow and the different stages of the first 4 weeks. I'll put them next to a dollar bill to give you some perspective of how big they are.
So, here we are: Day 1 (only a few hours after birth)
You wouldn't believe how WIGGLY a few-hour-old baby can be, but ohhh my, yes! Sorry about the not-so-great pictures. They'll just have to do, though! Those babies sure have a lot of wiggle in 'em.
And these were taken this morning... Day 2! You can already see the teeniest bit of white fuzz coming...

Here is all four in their nest this morning:
With this litter I'm trying the "method" where you take the nest box out and only give it to the mom twice a day, morning and night, for her to nurse. This way I don't have to worry about the babies getting cold in these MN winters! I'm keeping their nest box in the milk room where it is heated and Bella is doing a great job of nursing them when I put them back. It's so nice cuz I don't have to worry about finding frozen babies... why didn't I think of this sooner?!?!?
Haylie gets a nest box today... looking forward to more babies. Right now I'm just dreaming about FOUR nest boxes full of babies on the counter! =) ahhh.... ;)
Stay tuned! Coming soon... Day 3!
