Baby Update and more....

This morning when I checked on Haylie's baby I found him in, well, ... terrible shape.  He was getting cold and couldn't seem to get anything out of Haylie.  I think she has pretty much dried up.  :(  I was going to be gone all morning, so I put him back in the nest box and basically said goodbye.  :(  So... I was positive that was it, so you can imagine how surprised I was when I came back this afternoon and he was warm and lively again.  ???  Quite a tough little bugger.  So, as a last resort I warmed up some goat milk and put a spoonful of it up to his mouth.

I was super surprised when he started sucking it down!  It was hilarious... he actually drank the milk out of the spoon and had about 3 more spoonfuls after that.  WOW!  My main worry is that he will aspirate it - that is what happened when I tried this with another baby a few months ago, and it died.  :(  So we'll see how he does.  But he sure was happy about getting that milk and it was so adorable.... guess I'm his new "mom".  He's a week old today.  Can't believe he made it that far!  *cheers*  If he makes it another week I can move him onto some solids a little early.  I'm trying to be optimistic, but we'll see.  Goat milk just won't be the same as the real stuff, and so I'm not sure how he'll do.  But we're trying.  And I'm falling in love with him in the process..... =)

For some rabbitry news.... I am feeling confident that Dolly and CC are both bred.  CC is due in about 2 weeks and Dolly on the 4th next month... which also happens to be my Dad's birthday!  :)  Which is funny, because my very first Hotot litter was born on my Dad's birthday!  :)

Yesterday I made some curtains for one of the windows in the rabbitry.  They will help keep the sun out when it's really hot in the summer, as well as making things soooo homey and cute in there.  ;)  I know, kinda weird, but ... I spend a lot of time in there, so why not make it comfortable!  =)  I still have to finish the  curtain for the other window, too.

=)

Nice curtains! Do you like sewing? =D

Thanks! Well... I really haven't done much sewing in the last few years, but when I was younger I used to do a LOT of sewing. So it was fun to do that again. =D
